Whats Up Duck

6 7 Duck was not feeling too good at all. He did not feel poorly, like he was ill, but he did feel strange and it was scaring him a bit. He felt ‘jumpy’ and ‘nervous’. He was finding it hard to relax and concentrate on his schoolwork. It was as though the world was going by at a hundred miles per hour. Duck could not work out what was wrong and he could not work out what to do! He sat in his chair and almost felt like crying! ‘What is the matter with me?’ he thought. His breathing was quicker than normal too. Cat had been watching and had seen Duck looking anxious (that means worried). ‘Are you sure?’ said Cat with a warm and friendly smile on her face. Duck looked at Cat, and without saying a word, Cat knew that he needed a little bit of her help. ‘Duck’ said Cat, ‘you look as though you are struggling a bit today, tell me how you’re feeling, if you don’t mind sharing with me of course’. ‘I’m not sure HOW I feel’ said Duck with a nervous and shaky voice. ‘It just feels like the world is going at 100 miles per hour and I cannot seem to make myself feel calm’. Cat thought that Duck looked a little bit scared and ‘freaked out’. ‘I have an idea that might help, why don’t you take a deep breath with me Duck’ said Cat. ARE YOU SURE? ‘Are you ok Duck?’, she said. Duck had always struggled to talk about his feelings, so he gave his normal answer. ‘Fine’ he said whilst also doing his best to give Cat a smile. ARE YOU OK DUCK? ARE YOU SURE?
